I will place my hands directly on skin surfaces in affected areas, and apply gentle pressure for 90 to 120 seconds until the tissue begins to soften. A stretch and gently increased pressure is continued to release  restrictions in the fascial system. Each hold is a minimum of 5 minutes. Additional physical therapy treatment techniques will be used as needed.

You will also learn self-care techniques to aid in your healing process and enhance the work done in treatments.

How will I feel afterward?

What is a Myofascial Release treatment like?

We all have different bodies and experiences, so treatment responses do vary. Some individuals may feel relief while others may experience some discomfort prior to relief. Others may have pain, emotions, or sensations that arise and usually subside in one to three days. The so-called “healing crisis” is a normal response to treatment as our bodies release restrictions and toxins. Be sure to drink plenty of water afterwards to hydrate tissue and to flush toxins that have been released from your system.

Some people feel great after their first treatment but more often additional sessions are needed to meet goals.

Everyone heals at different rates depending upon therapeutic goals, current situation and commitment to self-care.  Typically what I see is  4-12 weekly, bi-weekly or monthly therapeutic treatments.

Treatment plans are individualized, discussed and updated regularly.

Long-standing issues may benefit from intensive treatment, even daily for a week or two.
